Deadline for Supershow auditions is approaching

THE search is on to find the top musical talent among Lanarkshire’s secondary school pupils, who have the chance to take centre stage at this year’s Supershow.

Supercounty, organisers of the 12th annual star-studded showcase, have sent out invitations to 45 schools across Lanarkshire, offering pupils the chance to take part in the auditions early next month.

Wednesday, January 28, is the deadline for pupils to be allocated a slot at the auditions to be held at Cardinal Newman High School, Bellshill, from Tuesday, February 3, to Thursday, February 5.

Supercounty chairman Ian Livingstone said: "Invitations went out to all schools before Christmas. This is a last call for parents, friends and relatives wishing to nominate musically talented pupils to be considered for audition.

"The invitation is again open to singers, dancers and musicians - from first to sixth year.

"The quality and versatility of the musical talent these young people display is quite incredible.

“I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing the fresh crop of musical talent to emerge in 2009.”

Parents, friends and relatives wishing to nominate pupils to take part should contact Lanarkshire Supershow co-ordinator Karen Lambie on 01698 742050 or e-mail her at supercounty@scotent.co.uk.

The show will be held in Motherwell Concert Hall on Thursday, April 2.
