Celebrity backing may help Jeye T make an impact in the New Year

MOTHERWELL singer-songwriter John Tierney’s music has attracted plenty of interest in recent months and he’s set to record his debut album in 2009.

It’s been a busy year for the artist known as Jeye T and 2009 promises to be even bigger.

With a date set for music mogul Alan McGhee’s Death Disco in London in the New Year and an appearance in his new video from ex-Oasis guitarist Bonehead, Jeye T’s career is going from strength to strength.

His song ‘Same Time Again’ is a mellow mix of fine vocals and infectious riffs.

Having the legendary Bonehead in his video is very impressive. The guitarist turned DJ went to see Jeye T play on the recommendation of McGhee and the pair have been friends since.

Jeye T said: “Bonehead was playing in Glasgow and I was playing in Glasgow at the same time.

“He came along to see me and he loved my songs, which was great.”

He added: “He’s in my video, I just asked him if he would be in it and he said ‘yeah’. He’s a great guy.”

Alan McGhee is said to be a big fan of Jeye T’s work and is oening doors for him in the music world.

Jeye T said: “Alan McGhee contacted me on MySpace after I sent him a song or two and he said he liked them.

“He has invited me down to London as he wants to see me live.”

Proudly, he added: “He’s got my songs on his iPod so you can’t do better than that.”

Already an Oasis fan, Jeye T is delighted at his new celebrity fans.

He said: “I’ve got DVDs of Oasis and Alan McGhee and these guys are big heroes of mine. I am hoping Bonehead will do a couple of songs on my new album.”

These are exciting times for Jeye T, who is due to start recording his first album in March 2009, with renowned producer Paul Tipler at the helm.

Jeye T said: “The new album will be out late next year but it’s not really my priority at the moment.

“I just really want to get better quality on my songs and better quality recordings because all my songs are home recordings just now.”

With appearances on XFM and radio stations around the world, Jeye T has fans across the globe.

He said: “I’ve got a lot of fans in Malaysia and Hong Kong. I played a really good gig in Hong Kong in the summer, which was a big outdoor event.”

Jeye T’s material is an endearing mix of psychedelic indie with hints of an Oasis influence. Songs such as “So Lonely” and “In My Mind” are well put together and instantly likeable.

It looks like Jeye T is set for big things in 2009 and is definitely one to watch.
