MUSIC-lovers will be treated to an exciting concert when 50 mandolins and guitars take to the stage in Hamilton this weekend.
The Berlin Zupf Orchester will join Scotland’s premier mandolin and guitar orchestra, Da Capo Alba, for an evening of music covering many different musical styles.
Barbara Pommerenke-Steel, the conductor of Da Capo Alba, is looking forward to this joint concert as she used to play for the Berlin orchestra. She commented: “The Berlin players are a very experienced mandolin and guitar orchestra. A performance by two orchestras of this kind is something rarely seen in the United Kingdom.”
The event will be hosted by Lanarkshire Guitar and Mandolin Association in Trinity Church, Neilsland Road, on Saturday at 7.30pm.
Tickets, which cost £6 and £4 concessions, are available by phoning Ian Steel on 01698 457518. Some tickets may also be available at the door.
