Win free tickets to Little Voice

YOUR Advertiser has teamed up with the King’s Theatre Glasgow to bring you yet another great competition.

We have two pairs of tickets to give away to ‘The Rise and Fall of Little Voice’ on May 13.

The talented duo of Elaine C Smith and Andy Gray return to major Scottish theatres with a brand new production of the award-winning play.

Open auditions held last autumn in Glasgow resulted in the casting of Deborah Saloman as Little Voice.

She appeared last year at the King’s Head Theatre, London, in her own musical about Judy Garland, Get Happy!

The Little Voice production gained populist appeal when made into a Hollywood blockbuster movie.

The original stage version, however, is unique and beautiful, captivating the audience with its hilarious characters, haunting sadness and the pure vocal tones of Little Voice.

Jim Cartwright’s highly-acclaimed urban fairytale tells the story of a young girl imprisoned in her squalid home grieving for her dead father.

Finding solace in his classic record collection she develops, over time, the ability to mimic the great Diva’s like Bassey and Garland and before our very eyes Little Voice (Deborah Salomon) is born.

Mari Hoff (Elaine C Smith) is the widowed mother, a foul-mouthed and hilarious lush, who shares her adventures with her equally foul friend Sadie May (Carole Anders) and desires, above all else, to be ‘rescued’ by her sleazy lover Ray Say (Andy Gray).

However, Ray has other ideas, namely how to use Little Voice to further his career as a supposed entertainment manager, enlisting the help of the desperate and dodgy club owner, Mr Boo (Peter Kelly) to convince the terrified Little Voice to perform in public.

But Little Voice has her own agenda, which is to escape the squalor and abuse through her friendship with the tender and shy young electrician, Billy (Jim Webster-Stewart).

All you have to do to win is answer this simple question: Who will play Mari Hoff in the production of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice? Send your entries to King’s Competition, Editorial, Press Buildings, Campbell Street, Hamilton, ML3 6AX. Deadline for entries noon, Tuesday, April 29.
