A LARKHALL band will perform at a new platform for Mod music in Lanarkshire.
The team behind the well-established Melting Pot DJ-only night in Motherwell’s Starka have joined forces to bring Mod sounds from the 60s to Zico bar in Kirk Road, Wishaw on Saturday, April 5, from 9pm.
Larkhall tribute band The Underground Jam will play on the night alongside Edinburgh’s Modus and the club’s resident DJs Craig Wilson, John Nelson, Stewart Leggate, Scott Cardwell, Matt Jonstone and Ally McLean.
Ross Gordon, (35) the lead singer and “Paul Weller” of The Underground Jam, said the group were really looking forward to the gig.
The Underground Jam formed in 2003 after Ross and Jim Morrison went to see another Jam tribute band in Edinburgh and bumped into Steve Corrall.
When they found out Steve was a drummer and a Jam fan, they started rehearsing the week after.
Ross said: “At the moment, we are still gigging and enjoying it and still putting on a Woking accent.
“We are trying to recreate the raw energy of The Jam from 1977 - sadly with less hair than when we formed!
“We have never set out to try to look like a band. It’s not possible. But we are passionate about the sound we create and hopefully that’s what matters.”
Tickets are £9 direct from Zico £10 on the door. More details can be found at www.myspace.com/lanarkshiresmodnight.
l We’ve teamed up with the promoters to give away two pairs of tickets to the event.
