Vox Pop on X Factor winner Joe McElderry
GEORDIE Joe McElderry changed his life on Sunday by winning the 2009 X Factor and a £1m record contract. We took to the streets of Hamilton to find out if the right person won the popular contest.
Victoria Wawrzonko (30), of Hamilton, said: “The competition was very good but I thought Jamie Archer with the hair should have won. From the top three, though, I thought Joe was the best singer and I was glad that he won. I would definitely consider buying the single.”
Rachel Leckie (18) said: “I love the X Factor and I think the right person won. I thought from the start that Danyl would go all the way, but then from the final three I always thought Joe would win. I love all of it and I would definitely buy the single.”
Lesmahagow man Michael Toner (20), said: “I thought Danyl would win right from the start because he was the best singer. Down to the top three it was a toss-up but I was gutted that Olly didn’t win because I thought he was more of an entertainer.”
Eddie Burke (54) of Hamilton enjoyed the competition. “I definitely think the right person won. I thought Joe would win it all the way. I was going to put a bet on him at the start but I couldn’t get near a bookmaker’s – I wish I had now! I didn’t vote in the competition but I would definitely buy the single.”
