HAMILTON Speakers’ Club enjoyed a Hallowe’en theme for their meeting last week.
Sergeant at Arms Sam Waugh welcomed members and friends to the evening.
He then handed the meeting over to Jim Mowat, who set out his programme for the remainder of the evening
The first speaker was Sam Waugh whose speech, ‘Never on a Friday’, was evaluated by Tom McQuade.
Jim Elliot was the second speaker. His speech, ‘A Happy Hallowe’en’, was evaluated by David Davidson.
The third speaker was Alex Maxwell whose chilling tale, ‘Mary Docherty’, was evaluated by George Duncan.
John Caldwell delivered the final speech of the evening. Entitled ‘A Lad of Perts’, his speech was evaluated by Scott Caldow.
Topics chairman Bill McMullan gave members 12 two-minute topics. Tom Carson acted as timekeeper for the evening and the general evaluation was given by George Fairlie.
The club meet in Ferniegair Public Hall on Thursdays at 7.15pm for 7.30pm.
