M&D's Hijack a great success

Last weekend’s M&D’s Hijack went off without a hitch.

Good one eh? Okay not really.

Presented by Celebrity Big Brother 2008 winner John Loughton, M&D’s Hijack saw young people between the age of 12 and 26 get an unlimited rides pass for £10 after showing their Young Scot cards.

John was ‘hijacking’ random young people from the crowd and playfully embarrassing them on stage. At different points he’d get their mobile phone, scroll through to a random number and then call it.

Whoever was on the other side of the line got an earful from the Edinburgh man.

Pacific Avenue, Rockburn and several other local bands played to a packed park on the Reeltime music stage.

Mark Gardiner, Pro Evolution Soccer champ, played dozens of young people in the M&D’s Bazaar Bar. He played to a crowd on the bar's huge screen. The person who scored the most amount of goals into him won an Xbox 360 and 5 games.

He played me (again) and this time things went a little better…you can watch the video here to find out how I got on.

Both days saw around 10,000 young people attend.

The event was a huge turn out both days and was a great success for the park.

Young Scot, North Lanarkshire Council and M&D’s Theme Park all organised a great, memorable day for young people.
