Badminton Championships attracted 115 players

OVER 100 youngsters took part in the annual Clydesdale Sports Council Junior Badminton Championships at Carluke High School last month.

A total of 115 kids took part in the event, played over two days on the weekend of March 27 and 28.

The matches were competitively played, with several close contests.

Results were:

U11 Boys Singles: 1 – Andrew Lacey (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Robbie Orr (Biggar Junior).

U11 Girls Singles: 1 – Beth Woodside (Biggar Junior); 2 – Abbey Dickson (Biggar Junior).

U12 Boys Singles: 1 – Andrew Currie (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Cameron Russell (Lanark YMCA).

U12 Girls Singles: 1 – Eilidh Miller (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Aimee Coutts (Carluke Leisure).

U12 Boys Doubles: 1 – Christopher Laughlan and Cameron Russell (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Nathan Butcher and Andrew Lacey (Lanark YMCA).

U12 Girls Doubles: 1 – Kathryn Sandilands and Megan Warnock (Biggar Junior); 2 – Chloe Hamilton and Chloe Paterson (Biggar Junior).

U12 Mixed Doubles: 1 – Beth Woodside and Robbie Orr (Biggar Junior); 2 – Chloe Paterson and Kyle Anderson (Biggar Junior).

U14 Boys Singles: 1 – Euan Watson (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Alistair Orr (Lanark YMCA).

U14 Girls Singles: 1 – Kirstie Baird (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Sophie Woodside (Biggar Junior).

U14 Boys Doubles: 1 – Alistair Orr (Lanark YMCA) and Jordan Philip (Carluke High); 2 – Liam Egan and Ewan Sinton (Lanark YMCA).

U14 Girls Doubles: 1 – Katryna Scott (Lanark YMCA) and Sophie Woodside (Biggar Junior); 2 – Maya Andrew and Caitlin McKenzie (Lanark YMCA).

U14 Mixed Doubles: 1 – Kirstie Baird and Euan Watson (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Katryna Scott (Lanark YMCA) and Jordan Philip (Carluke High).

U16 Boys Singles: 1 – Arthur Martin (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Alistair Scott (Lanark YMCA).

U16 Girls Singles: 1 – Mhairi Thompson (Biggar Junior); 2 – Hannah Baird (Lanark YMCA).

U16 Boys Doubles: 1 – Arthur Martin and Euan Watson (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Grant Paul and Alistair Scott (Lanark YMCA).

U16 Girls Doubles: 1 – Hannah Baird and Kirstie Baird (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Alice Fingland (Lanark YMCA) and Hannah Thomson (Carluke Leisure).

U16 Mixed Doubles: 1 – Alice Fingland and Alistair Scott (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Hannah Baird and Grant Paul (Lanark YMCA).

U18 Boys Singles: 1 – Peter Gibson (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Michael Allan (Biggar Junior).

U18 Girls Singles: 1 – Elise Printer (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Mhairi Thompson (Biggar Junior).

U18 Boys Doubles: 1 – Michael Allan (Biggar Junior) and Peter Gibson (Lanark YMCA); 2 – Martin Collins (Heriot Watt Uni) and Greg Woodside (Biggar Junior).

U18 Girls Doubles: 1 – Elise Printer (Lanark YMCA) and Mhairi Thompson (Biggar Junior); 2 – Marie Lake and Carolyn Watson (Carluke High).

U18 Mixed Doubles: 1 – Mhairi Thompson and Michael Allan (Biggar Junior); 2 – Elise Printer and Peter Gibson (Lanark YMCA).
