TWO new kickboxing clubs are set to open in Hamilton and Larkhall.
Fitness and Sport Kickboxing Clubs are open to adults and youths aged 12 and over.
Classes will take place on Thursdays at Hamilton Palace Sports Ground from 7-8pm and at Larkhall Community Centre from 7.30-8.30pm.
The classes will be taken by black belt instructors Steven McLaren, Armin Gohrisch, Kerry Adam and Dominic Elder.
Both clubs would like to welcome anyone who is looking for a fun and challenging workout.
They are ideal for adults and secondary school-age children, both male and female.
The class will consist of pad work, circuits, kickboxing sparring drills, stretching, strength and endurance and balance and co-ordination exercises.
Instructors are opening the club to assist South Lanarkshire Council’s Active Schools drive to encourage teenagers to embrace a more healthy and active lifestyle.
Instructors are from the Stephen Rooney Tae Kwon-Do and Kickboxing organisation, which is also heavily involved in supporting the Active Schools programme for primary schoolchildren throughout Scotland.
The four instructors currently run Tae Kwon-Do classes for children, youths and adults in the Burnbank Centre (Tuesdays, 4.30-6.30pm); Jock Stein Centre (Saturdays, 10-11am); Hamilton Palace Sports Ground (Mondays, 6-7pm; Thursdays, 5pm-7pm); Stonehouse Institute (Mondays, 4.30-5.30pm); Strathaven Ballgreen Hall (Tuesdays, 4.45-5.45pm; Wednesday 4.55-5.55pm) and Larkhall Leisure Centre (Tuesdays, 7-9pm; Thursdays 6-7pm).
There are also classes at Lanark EU Kirk Hall on Fridays from 5.30-6.30pm; Blackwood Village Hall on Wednesdays from 6.30-8.30pm, and Lesmahagow Jubilee Hall on Thursdays from 6-7pm.
