New jogging block at Strathclyde Park.

A NEW 10-week block of jogging classes will start up at Strathclyde Park next month.

The classes, organised by North Lanarkshire Leisure in conjunction with jogscotland, start on Wednesday, January 13.

This allows people to take up a new hobby, meet others, get in shape and lose weight all at the same time.

Total newcomers or lapsed joggers, young and older alike, will be welcomed to the scheme, and North Lanarkshire Leisure staff will be on hand to assist, support and advise.

North Lanarkshire Leisure sports development officer Bonny Wallace said: “A lot of people are put off jogging because they feel foolish, vulnerable, or are just bored exercising on their own.

“However, within the support of a group the activity takes on a whole new complexion of enjoyment and achievement.

“The adult jogging programme provides great motivation and can simultaneously help weight loss, stress relief and promote muscle tone while being fun.”

Informal information roadshows will be held at the Watersports Centre, Strathclyde Park, on Wednesday, January 6, from 6pm-8pm, and Sunday, January 10, from 10am-noon.

Memberships and bookings can be arranged on those dates.
