SEVERAL students from Hamilton’s Satori Shotokan Karate Club returned with medals from the Inter-Club Championships last month.
The event was held at Hillhouse and Earnock Community Centre.
In the Mixed Individual Kata (peewee, 5-7 years), Melissa Johnstone took gold while Taylor MacGregor won bronze.
In the red-to-yellow belt section Lauren Hughes took gold, Sara Correia took silver and Dillon Campbell won bronze.
Jordan Verdi grabbed the top prize in the mixed green-to-purple and white belt category.
In the black belt section, Lewis Donnelly won gold, Jordan Beck took silver and John Ralton was third.
John Ralton won gold and Lewis Donnelly finished second in the Open Kata.
Satori’s B team of Lauren Hughes, Lauren Fleming and Melissa Johnstone finished first in the Mixed Junior Team Kata red-to-yellow belt section.
The A team of Sara Correia, Steven Smith and Olivia Campbell finished second in the same event.
In the green-to-purple and white belt section, the A team of Darren McGregor, Courtney Gibson and Ryan Templeton took gold.
Gold medals were also won by the brown-to-black belt A team of John Ralton, Lewis Donnelly and Jordan Beck, while the B team of Shannon Weir, Jordan Verdi and Kian King took silver.
In the Male Kumite, Ryan Templeton won gold in the green-to-purple and white belt section, while Darren MacGregor took silver.
Kian King took bronze in the Junior Male Kumite brown-to-brown and white belt section.
In the black belt section, Jordan Beck took gold, John Ralton took silver and Lewis Donnelly was third.
Courtney Gibson won bronze in the Junior Female Kumite green-to-purple and white belt section, while Shannon Weir took silver in the brown-to-brown and white belt section.
Lewis Donnelly was best male performer on the day.

The Satori Shotokan Karate Club meets in the South Lanarkshire Lifestyles complex in Neilsland Road, Hamilton, each Monday and Wednesday from 7.30-9.30pm.
