HAMILTON Sports Council hope that groups of friends, clubs and society members, work colleagues or husbands and wives will challenge each other to take part in this year’s 5k Race and Fun Run.
The event takes place at Hamilton Palace Sports Grounds on Sunday.
Although the closing date for postal entries has passed, late entrants can now register up to half-an-hour before the race starts.
Sports council chairman Councillor Graeme Horne explained: “In previous years, we’ve had dozens of people contacting us in the last week before the race or even turning up on the day and we’ve not been able to accommodate them.
“This year, we have changed the way we record runners’ times so that anyone registering more than half-an-hour before the start of the race will be able to take part.”
Councillor Horne added: “This late entry facility applies to the 1k race for juniors as well so mums and dads and the kids could all take part in an event.”
The junior race is open to runners aged 13 or under on the day of the race and starts at 9.30am. Staff will be available to register runners between 8.30-9am.
Adult runners (14 or over on the day of the race) will be able to register from 8.30-9.30am. The senior race will start at 10am.
