CLYDE Valley Blackhawks got back to winning ways with a resounding win 48-0 over Chester Romans in Wishaw.
After the defeat to Manchester Titans last week, Blackhawks will have been glad to get back on track.
On Blackhawks’ opening drive Chester’s defence stood firm and forced them to punt. Clyde Valley returned the favour and it looked like a day of defensive domination.
However, Blackhawks’ offence had other ideas and starting on their own 23 yard line behind some thunderous running they raced upfield and the move was capped off with a 12-yard tackle-breaking run from Graeme MacMillan for the score, although the extra point sailed wide.
Chester couldn’t find a way through the Blackhawks defence and Greg McIntrye scooped up a fumble, which led to the next score when Phil McCabe drove in from three yards in. The extra point again went wide.
Although Chester were still in the game Graeme MacMillan gathered in a punt and scorched 70 yards to add another six to Blackhawks’ tally, and this time Tam Chapman booted the ball between the uprights.
Clyde Valley capitalised on an error when quarterback David Orr laid a delicate pass into the hands of Tam Chapman who also booted the extra point.
The second half started in much the same vein when David Orr linked well with his brother Gary on a 40-yard touchdown pass.
Blackhawks added two points when the Romans’ quarterback was called for intentional grounding.
Blackhawks’ Dan Fielden added further misery when he intercepted a wayward pass to score.
Graeme MacMillan added his third of the day when he bounced outside and scampered 12 yards for another touchdown.
Craig MacMillan piled on the pressure when he recovered a fumble and Darren Sharp cel;ebrated his first touchdown.
Chapman rounded off the day by kicking the extra point.
