LAW and District Amateur Athletics Club held their annual awards evening and disco at Cleland Miners’ Welfare on November 7, with around 160 athletes, coaches, family and friends attending.
Prizewinners for 2007-08 were:
Melville Cup (under-11 girls track): 1 - Pamela McNicol; 2 - Christina Murray; 3 - Emily McNicol.
Carine Greenshields Memorial Shield (under-13 girls track): 1 - Ashleigh Anderson; 2 - Rachel Hands; 3 - Sherelle Graham.
Station Hotel Trophy (under-15 girls track): 1 - Chelcie Dalziel; 2 - Julie Dobbin; 3 - Samantha Stevenson.
Patrick Gilhooly Trophy (under-17 girls track): 1 - Kirstie McLeoud, Laura Livesey and Lynn Livesey.

Royal Bar Trophy (most deserving senior athlete): Tom Nicholson.
The final award of the evening was the presentation of the Bric Link Relay Challenge, which took place at the club championships at Wishaw track.
This sponsored race brought together athletes, coaches and spontaneously-selected family members for highly-contested relay races. What emerged was a hilarious spectacle of ‘wacky races’ and while all were winners, the ultimate champions were the Tom’s Tornadoes team.
