Volleyball: Joy and disappointment

NORTH Lanarkshire Volleyball Club’s teams had mixed fortunes at the weekend.

In a fiercely-competitive match the men’s team, Bellshill Cardinals, recovered from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 against Pentland.

The ladies, however, went down 3-1 to a Jets side they had defeated by the same scoreline two weeks ago.

Jets took the first set 26-24, but a strong comeback from North Lanarkshire allowed them to take the second, but Jets stormed to a 16-1 lead in the third.

That took the wind out of North Lanarkshire’s sails and Jets took the fourth set, and the game.

This Saturday the ladies are at home in the Top Team Cup against Glasgow Mets.

The match starts at 10.30am in Brannock High, Newarthill, and entry is free.
