THE Clydesdale Sports Council Ladies’ Classic Bowls tournament has been won by Joyce Brand of Castlehill, who beat Margaret McSkimming from Blackwood Victoria in an exciting final at the Lanark Thistle green.
Twelve of the best ladies from the Clydesdale area competed in two sections in the 14th year of the tournament, playing for the Annie Hunter Trophy.
Clydesdale Sports Council liaison officer Colin McKendrick thanked all players who took part, Lanark Thistle Bowling Club for use of the green and for catering provided by the ladies’ section, and all markers from the club who helped on the day.
Colin also thanked Jean Smith and Jenny Armstrong from the ladies’ bowls committee for their excellent administration on the day, and Frances Thompson from the sports council for umpiring.
Annie Hunter, former Clydesdale Sports Council ladies’ bowls convenor, presented the prizes.
