Four are off to school games

FOUR Lanarkshire badminton starlets will compete in the UK School Games in Bristol this weekend.

Bothwell’s Kirsty Gilmour, Bank of Scotland Under-17 Scottish national and Under-15 Home Countries Quadrangular girls’ singles champion, Emma Gallacher from Wishaw, Fiona Archibald of Larkhall, and Motherwell’s Craig Morrison, are in a 16-strong squad competing at the University of the West of England from August 28-31.

The team is led by coaches Karen Stalker, Bill Hogg and Lena Robertson.

BADMINTONscotland chief executive Anne Smillie said: “The team last year set a high standard in bringing back so many medals, but we have another very talented squad this year, and I am hopeful of more success.”
