Ladies enjoy success at Clydesdale bowls finals

CLYDESDALE Sports Council’s Ladies’ 50+ Triples Bowls championship was this year won by Forth and Wilsontown.

Skip Jeanette Alexander, Mary Thomson and Isa Walker defeated Lanark Thistle’s Janet Tait (skip), June Scott and Martha Smith in a nailbiting final match.

Lanark Thistle’s Wendy Burrell, Eileen McEwan and Mae Dick (skip), and Castlehill’s Maureen Stark, Betty McNeill and Molly Forgie (skip), reached the semi-finals.

In total 72 players and 24 triples took part in the event at Forth and Wilsontown Bowling Club on Thursday, June 19.

Clydesdale Sports Council’s liaison officer Colin McKendrick thanked Forth and Wilsontown Bowling Club for hosting the event, Clydesdale ladies’ bowls committee member Nancy Warwick for her excellent administration on the day, and Clydesdale Sports Council Immediate Past Chair Johan Steele, for presenting Glenmuir Sportswear prizes to the winners.

Thanks also went to Frances Thompson and Senga Peacock for umpiring the event.
