Pigeon racers enjoy success at Longtown

SEVERAL Lanarkshire Homing Societies took part in Sunday’s race from Longtown.

The event which was held in good conditions was voted a great success with some excellent timings being recorded by the Lanarkshire members.

Results of the race were:

BURNBANK: 1 - W. Reid (1318.78); 2 - S. Welsh (1285.45); 3 - S. Welsh (1278.72).

NETHERBURN: 1 - A. J. Hamilton (1197); 2 - R. Smith (936); 3 - R. Smith (925).

GREENFIELD: 1 - J. Polockus (1312.601); 2 - J. Polockus (1282.332); 3 - Hendry Bros (1217.580)

LOW WATERS: 1 - G. Lightbody (1232.288); 2 - D. Douglas (1204.202); 3 - T. McCabe (1189.908).

G. Lightbody won the T. McNamara Memorial Cup.

Last week’s result, also from Longtown, was: 1 - A. Nelson and Son (1441.544); 2 - S. Beattie (1439.640); 3 - P. Green (1430.850).

A. Nelson and Son won the Beattie Sprint Cup.

LARKHALL and DISTRICT: 1 - G. Rankin and Son (1247.031); 2 - J. Finnan (1184.973); 3 - J. Finnan (1103.065).

LARKHALL SOUTH: 1 - J. McFall; 2 - J. McFall; 3 - H. Whitelaw.
