Royal Albert members to get on their bikes

LARKHALL Royal Albert Cycling Club are organising two trips for the near future.

The first is a 100-mile run from Blackwood to Peebles and back this Sunday, April 13.

The route will also cover Auchenheath, Kirkfieldbank, Sandilands, Carmichael, Tinto, Thankerton, Biggar, Blyth Bridge, Meldons, Eddleston, with lunch at the Hub Cycling Cafe at Glentress.

The return journey takes in Cademuir, Stobo, Broughton, Biggar, Symington, Wiston, Rigside before finishing at Blackwood.

Cyclists will leave Blackwood at 9.30am, and can expect to return at around 4.30pm.

This event is for seasoned cyclists, and is a fundraiser, with proceeds going towards buying pocket cardio-memos for Wishaw General Hospital.

Any non-cyclists willing to donate to this fund can contact Dennis Whyte, 4 Vere Road, Blackwood, and all contributions will be gratefully appreciated.

Planning by the club for the Scottish 10-Mile Time Trial in Stirling on Sunday, May 18, is also well underway.

A full field is expected, and the average speed of the winner is anticipated to be over 30mph.
