Hamilton Gymnasts hop to it and raise club cash

HAMILTON Gymnastics Club members took part in a sponsored ‘bunny hop’ at Easter to raise much-needed funds for the club.

An overwhelming response saw the club raise an impressive £1943, which will be used to buy new equipment.

Each child attempted as many hops (mini handstands) as possible in five minutes, with 100 the target.

Several girls achieved this with ease, accumulating a total of 18,872 ‘hops’.

A team of 28 gymnasts will take part in the Scottish Gymfest at the Magnum Centre in Irvine in May .

The team will perform a movie-themed tumble, trampette and dance routine.

Due to demand new classes will start at Calderside Academy on Wednesday, April 23 and anyone interested in joining these should contact head coach Ruth Gibson on 01698 308852.
