THREE county clubs crashed out of the Emirates Scottish Cup after the completion of Saturday’s third-round ties.
Royal Albert boss Iain McCluskie was left fuming over his side’s 5-1 defeat against Central League First Division side Dunipace and the issuing of a controversial red card.
Albert were doing quite well against higher-league opposition but lost a goal on the stroke of half-time.
And it all went pear-shaped midway through the second period when Mark Reid was sent off by the referee.
McCluskie said: “Mark went into what looked to me like a fair tackle, but the referee blew for a foul and showed him a second yellow.
“As he walked off the park Mark swore at the referee, who then strode towards where I was standing on the touchline, accused me of swearing at him, and ordered me off the sidelines for foul and abusive language – but I didn’t say a word to him!
“That decision could mean a £100 fine and a four or six-week suspension, but I’m going to contest this all the way.
“I’ve been involved in junior football since I was 16, which is more than 30 years ago, but a verdict and punishment like that could mean I would have to give up the game that I love.”
David Dickson netted a cracking goal for Albert to pull the score back to 4-1 but at the end it was all in vain.
Forth Wanderers lost 2-0 at home to East Region Super League side, and former cup-winners, Camelon.
Newmains United lost 5-0 at Super First Division leaders Glenafton Athletic in their cup tie after agreeing to switch the tie from water-logged Victoria Park.
