SHOTTS hope to sign former St Johnstone youngster Ryan Sullivan in time for Saturdays Super League First Division clash against Ardrossan Winton Rovers.
The right-back (below), who can also play in midfield, was released by the McDiarmid Park club during a player cull back in May.
Captain John Boyack and defender Gerry McKenna, who missed the weekend cup win through suspension, are expected to return this weekend against second-placed Rovers, but ruled out entirely is midfielder Tom Hanlon, who has been transfer-listed following his red card the previous week.
Former Lanark ace Hanlon has picked up a plethora of cards, mainly for dissent, but has scored 25 goals in 46 games.
This tally included the only goal in last seasons Sectional League Cup Final against Lanark, which clinched Shotts first silverware in 11 years.
Meanwhile, Lanark go into the game against Whitletts Vics at Moor Park with the incentive that a win could hoist them clear of the relegation pack.
Thorniewood are in a similar position as they host Kilsyth Rangers.
