AN ALL-COUNTY Superleague Premier clash between Lanark United and Bellshill Athletic has been pencilled in for this weekend, after Friday frost forced a call-off on Saturday.
It has the hallmarks of a cracker – two teams who, on their day, can play good football and score goals, not to mention the motivator of league survival.
Both sides boosted dressing room morale and confidence by clocking up creditable home wins a fortnight ago against teams listed second and third-top.
Victory over high-flying Largs Thistle was Lanark’s third successive league win, hoisting them into a comfortable mid-table position, three points clear of the drop-zone.
Bellshill, meanwhile, were relishing the experience of beating Pollok.
This remains a ‘six-pointer’ for both teams, however. A Lanark win would take them several points clear in sixth place.
But a Bellshill victory would boost their prospects of beating even a play-off, depending on how the three clubs around them fare at the weekend.
