Six red cards are shown as Lanark suffer first defeat

LANARK United suffered their first league defeat of the season in an explosive match shrouded in controversy.

Four players and two coaches were red-carded, and a total of 16 players booked, as Kilwinning scraped a 2-1 win.

After the game, scorer Craig Miles was given a straight red card for something he apparently said to the linesman.

Lanark lost 2-1 at East Kilbride, with Craig Miles again the scorer, and will hope to regain their form when leaders Largs visit on Saturday.

Shotts Bon Accord dropped five points at home over the weekend, losing 3-1 to Maybole on Saturday and drawing 1-1 against Renfrew on Monday.

John Osborne levelled at 1-1 with a left-foot drive from a John Boyack corner but Steve Herriott limped off with a hamstring pull and Maybole made it 2-1 before grabbing the clincher.

Osborne was again on target against Renfrew.Shotts are at home to Hurlford on Saturday.

In the Super Premier League Bellshill notched up a 2-1 win over second-top Beith, with second-half goals from Gary Fleming and Anton Franchetti.
