STRIKER Chris Queen dented former club Thorniewood’s promotion hopes with a double in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Cambuslang.
United now trail second placed ’Lang by seven points in the Central League First Division table, but have two games in hand and eight games to play.
Cambuslang scored from a well-worked corner before Queen doubled the hosts’ lead. Des Bradshaw scored from a penalty after Mullen was brought down but then Queen scored the third goal.
Thorniewood then slumped to a 3-0 defeat at home to Cumbernauld on Monday night.
Larkhall Thistle hoped to use the weekend cup tie to fire up the side for their league run-in, but crashed 3-2 at home to runaway league-leaders Glencairn on Monday. They take on Ashfield on Saturday and Cumbernauld on Monday.
