A BELATED testimonial match for former Motherwell striker Dougie Arnott will finally take place against an Old Firm XI at Fir Park on September 11.
One of the first people to sign up for the ’Well side was Dutch keeper Sieb Dijkstra (pictured right), one of the Lanarkshire club’s biggest cult heroes.
Dijkstra, who signed for Motherwell in 1991 from Dutch side Roda JC and left to join Queens Park Rangers in 1994, is looking forward to a return to Fir Park.
Dijkstra said: “For me it will be special because then I will play at the ground again where it all started so brightly for me.
“Also it will be a very special feeling again to play in front of my great all-time favourite Motherwell fans.”
He added: “Dougie was a role model professional who looked after himself well and still does.
“He was a player I think every defender dreaded, because of his quickness and sharpness in the 18-yard box. He really was a handful for every defender.”
