Lanark president Tam creates history with double title

LANARK United secretary Tam Anderson created his own little piece of Scottish junior football history during the last week.

Tam ended the season as the first president of the West of Scotland Junior Football Association, which replaced the former Ayrshire and Central League set-up.

For the past three seasons he has also been vice-president of the Scottish Junior Football Association, but at their AGM in Glenrothes, Tam was elected president – and for four days became the only person ever to hold both posts simultaneously.

The four-day reign ended at the ‘West’ AGM on Wednesday night, when he relinquished the chair.

His ‘Scottish’ vice-president is George Morton of Cumnock, while his successor at the ‘West’ is Tom Fyfe, from Pollok.

Tom Brennon, of Shotts Bon Accord and Stonehouse Violet’s William Ward, were re-elected to the West Region management committee.
