FANS of the late Phil O’Donnell will gather on Sunday at Celtic Park to pay tribute to the former Motherwell FC captain.
A tribute match between Motherwell and Celtic is being held in his memory at the club.
Phil, who lived in Hamilton, played a monumental part Motherwell’s campaign this season which ended with them securing a place in next year’s UEFA Cup.
Legendary names from both sides will once again pull on their boots to raise money for The O’Donnell Family Trust and other worthwhile charities. Motherwell’s 1991 Cup winning team will play against Celtic’s 1998 championship-winning team in the tribute match.
Stevie Kirk, Dougie Arnott, Chris McCart, Colin O’Neil, Craig Paterson, Ian Angus, Tommy Boyd, Jim Griffin and Ian Ferguson are expected to represent the Motherwell side.
Hoops fans will have one last chance to see Henrik Larsson in action in a Celtic jersey.
Over 35,000 tickets have already been sold for the match.
Phil tragically collapsed and died during his side’s 5-3 SPL win over Dundee United on December 29, 2007.
A post mortem examination revealed he suffered heart failure.
Phil leaves a wife Eileen and four children, Megan, Christopher, Olivia, and Luc.
