DALZIEL High School’s boys’ team have played their way through to the Coca-Cola 7s finals on Sunday, May 25.
The Motherwell school will line up at Hearts’ Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh, alongside Prestwick Academy after qualifying from the South Regional Finals at Airdrie’s New Broomfield Stadium.
The Coca-Cola 7s, a seven-a-side tournament for under-13 boys and under-14 girls, kicked off in January, with the remaining 64 teams playing in regional finals last week.
Hamilton’s Holy Cross took part in the regional final, but didn’t make it, while Dalziel and Carluke girls’ teams were eliminated as well.
Commenting on the day, Alan Halliday, regional director (Scotland) for Coca-Cola Enterprises, said: “The level of play throughout the Coca-Cola 7s has been outstanding, so all the teams can be justifiably proud of reaching this stage in the tournament.
“For those who have qualified to play at Tynecastle stadium it will certainly be a day to remember.”
