Red mist descends as Bellshill fall to late goal

AN injury-time goal denied Bellshill a deserved point against Glenafton, pushing them closer to the dreaded Super Premier League play-off place.

Manager Tam McDonald said: “We played very well indeed, started off brightly, and competed well against one of the best sides we’ve played this season.”

Dean Muir, who was red-carded for slapping a player, misses Saturday’s away game against tail-enders Kilsyth Rangers.

McDonald added: “We’ll be as professional as we can and if we play as well as we did on Saturday we should be all right.”

Shotts Bon Accord’s 3-1 defeat by Neilston left them rooted on second-bottom spot.

Assistant boss Willie Burns said: “It was bitterly disappointing. The players knew the importance of a win but this shocking display, coming on the back of a top performance against Irvine Meadow, made it even more difficult to accept.

“Kevin Barr equalised with a good header, and his form was one of few positives.”
