BILLY REID this week told his Hamilton side to start banging in the goals again, or risk seeing their First Division title dreams go up in smoke.
The New Douglas Park boss is concerned about the lack of goals coming from the team in general, but more particularly his forwards.
Central defender Mark McLaughlin is top scorer with four, closely followed a goal behind by midfielders James Chambers and Ali Crawford.
On-loan Celtic striker Greig Spence has two to his name, but Matt Paterson and Derek Lyle are both stuck on one strike for the season so far.
After drawing another blank in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Falkirk , Reid said it simply wasn’t good enough.
He said: “We didn’t have enough hunger up front.
“The guys know they haven’t done enough but there’s no point in saying that after a game – my belief is that if you’re not playing well, you make yourself the biggest nuisance that you can, but we didn’t do that.
“It was too easy for Falkirk, we took the wrong option too often and the shooting was inept.
“they’ve got to carry the can for not creating enough in the final third because we’ve got players who are better than that.
“If they’re not better than that, then we’ve got problems.”
“Our top goalscorer is Mark McLaughlin, who is a defender, and I think there’s a huge significance in that.”
