DEREK LYLE warned his Hamilton team-mates that they need to quickly put together a winning run to keep their First Division title bid on track.
The experienced striker, who scored Accies’ equaliser against Raith Rovers, believes there isn’t much between teams in the division and insists Accies need to begin racking up the wins to stay at the top end of the table.
Accies travel to face one of Lyle’s former clubs, Dundee, on Saturday and he expects a tough test.
Lyle said: “It’s a difficult game going up there and it’s great if you can get a win, so we want to do well.
“Hopefully, we can go up there, get a result and get back to winning ways because I think we need to go on a run if we want to be up there challenging for the league.”
Lyle’s equaliser against Rovers was his first goal of the season and he hopes it provides a kick-start to both himself and the team.
He said: “I thought we just needed a bit of luck in front of goal and thankfully I got it, so I was pleased with that.
“It’s a relief because I’ve been waiting a long time for it, and hopefully it is the first of many.
“On general play, Raith were the better team, but we had the better chances.
“Certainly when it went to 2-2, there was only one team that was going to win it.
“I nearly scored a second but the keeper got a finger to it. With a wee bit of luck that could have gone in and we would have won the game, but it wasn’t to be.”
