Casalinuovo desperate to get his first Hamilton goal

ACCIES striker Damian Casalinuovo admits he’s desperate to grab his first goal for the club – because he believes it will kick-start a scoring spree.

The Argentinian had a great chance to break his duck against Hearts on Saturday when put through on goal by Dougie Imrie, but Jambos keeper Marian Kello left Casa frustrated.

“I’m a striker, I need to score goals,” declared the 23-year-old former Dundee United hitman.

“On Saturday, I thought my performance was OK but I had a one on one and I couldn’t score. The keeper made a good save but I should have scored – I’m a striker.

“I think the rest of my game is fine, in terms of holding up the ball and all the work I have to do, but I need a goal.

“I think if I can score one goal then the rest of the goals will come.”

Casalinuovo hopes his luck changes against St Mirren when the Paisley side visit New Douglas Park this Saturday.

He said: “To be honest, any game would be a good one for me to get my first goal but it would be especially great on Saturday.

“I think we have to win for two reasons; one, we haven’t won at home this season and, two, we’re against St Mirren.

“We will have to work really hard and try to change the situation we’re in, because we don’t like it.”
