SIMON MENSING this week admitted Hamilton need to get back to basics if they are to pull themselves out of trouble.
With straight defeats in their opening three games, Mensing knows things are bleak at the moment for the New Douglas Park club, but reckons it could all change if Accies can get back to last season’s form.
Mensing hopes that starts on Saturday against last season’s First Division champions Inverness Caledonian Thistle up in the Highlands.
He said: “We’ve got to regroup, go over the videos and see what has gone wrong.
“Obviously our performances haven’t been good enough for ourselves individually and as a team.
“We know something is up and we’ve got to go and sort it out as soon as possible, and start to do better.
“We’ve got to get back to basics and put in a good performance.”
Mensing (right) believes that, despite Hamilton’s heavy defeats to both Aberdeen and Hearts, his side are not playing as badly as scores suggest.
He said: “I thought the result on Saturday flattered Hearts, the same as it did against Aberdeen the week before.
“On Saturday, we were on top until they scored, but at times we made individual mistakes, pressed the self-destruct button and got punished for it.
“In this league, you get punished for making mistakes, and you know you can’t get away with that.”
