DOUGIE IMRIE will show struggling Falkirk no mercy on Saturday as he tries to help Hamilton climb the SPL table – but he has also got a personal score to settle with the Bairns.
Imrie was part of an Inverness side that crashed out of the CIS Cup and Scottish Cup and lost all four league matches against Falkirk last season, which ultimately saw the Highlanders relegated.
Accies also haven’t taken more than a point from any of the three league games against Falkirk this term and fell to a 2-0 defeat on their last visit to Westfield.
Dougie, who has quickly established himself as a Hamilton hero since joining from Caley in January, said: “We’d like to get a win there because Hamilton haven’t beaten Falkirk this season, but I’d like to get a win there as well.
“Last season, when I was at Inverness, they beat us four times and put us down to the First Division, and out of the League Cup and Scottish Cup, so there’s plenty of motivation, not just for myself but the team.
“We want to go as far as we can, we can’t show sympathy for teams, because we want to push on and there will be no let-up against Falkirk just because we’re safe.
“We’re going there looking for the win and to push on from there.
“I’m sure it will be a hard game; Falkirk are fighting for their life and although they lost against Aberdeen on Saturday, some other results went their way, so they’ve got four games to try and save themselves – but we’ll be going over there to try and get the win.”
Imrie was pleased to finally grab his first Hamilton goal and hopes that his good recent form continues over the final four fixtures.
He said: “It was another great victory and it’s delightful to get my first goal. I didn’t really see it coming, it just fell to me and I put it into the back of the net.
“It’s not the prettiest of goals but it got us into the lead and we went on to win 3-0, which was a great result.”
