Hamilton Rugby Club awards handed out at annual lunch

HAMILTON Rugby Club completed their season on Sunday with their annual players’ lunch.

Players, coaches and guests were served an excellent three-course meal prepared by club manager Nick Schaschke. Afterwards, there was an entertaining awards show hosted by club captain Richie Maxton and 2nd XV coach David Gemmell.

The awards were presented as follows:

Player of the year – Chris Hunter; most improved player – Chris McLaughlin; supporters’ player – John Selfridge.

2nd XV player of the year – Lyle Calder; most improved player – Russell Virtue.

3rd XV player of the year – Jack Ryan; most improved player – Alisdair Irvine.

The award for volunteer of the year went to Mike Marron.

l AT the youth section awards day, the winners were: Under-18s player of the year – Andrew Robertson; runner-up – Barry Leonard; most improved player – Scott Whiteside; runner-up – Robert Kerr.

Under-16s player of the year – Calum Crozier; players’ player of the year – Liam Bell; most improved player – Marc Swinfen; best newcomer – Calum Brown.

Under-15s player of the year – Daniel McRoberts; best back – Callum Namyslak; best forward – Allan Goldie; coach’s award – Jonathan Graham.

S2s players’ player of the year – Greg Vickers; best newcomer – Jack O'Neill; most improved player – Ryan Butcher; coach’s player of the year – Greg Vickers.

S1s most improved player – Scott Wrisberg; best back – Dominic McRoberts; best forward – Jordan McLean; players’ player of the year – Nathan Brown.

P7s best newcomer – Matthew Cheales; most improved player – Raygan Dunsmore; players’ player best forward – Saul Henderson; players’ player best back – William Brown.

P6s players’ player of the year – Campbell Warnock; most improved – Shaun McGuire; coach’s award – Max Maloney; player of the year – Jack Burns.
