AROUND 200 children took part in Hamilton Rugby Club’s Primary 4 festival at the Palace Sports Grounds.
The event was one of two organised for the Hamilton area by the Laigh Bent club’s development officer Jared Tuoro.
“There were some very exceptional kids here with some very exciting skills,” said Tuoro, who had been out to eight schools and 12 classes in the last four weeks.
The day was a coordinated approach between Hamilton Rugby Club’s youth coaches from the under-17 team and five active schools coordinators.
New Zealander Tuoro continued: “This would not have been possible without the help of the active school coordinators putting the four-week programme together for us, and the help of our youth coaches as referees, so a huge thanks needs to go to them all.
“It was great to see also the weather playing its part, and as the sun shone there was many a try scored and several tackles made.
“Well done to all the schools who participated and we look forward to the second festival on November 18.”
