LANARK opened their Scottish Hydro West League Division Three campaign with a home defeat. All the early pressure came from Renfrew, who led 19-0 at half-time.
In the second half, following a penalty on the 22, the ball was spun out Steve McKeown, who opened Lanark’s account with a try that was converted by Iain Hughes.
McKeown turned sinner, however, when he made what was deemed an illegal tackle and the referee awarded a penalty try.
Lanark’s Fraser Lawson scored the final try, which was again converted by Hughes.
Lanark travel to Birkmyre on Saturday.
