Biggar in seven-try demolition

Biggar ...................48 Cambuslang ...........14

BIGGAR rounded off their pre-season programme with a comfortable win over National League Division One side Cambuslang.

The hosts ran in seven tries from Alan Warnock, Derek Brown, Sam Muir, Scott Watson, Andrew Cairns, Conor Lavery and Iain Renwick, with Notman adding five conversions and a penalty for the 48-point total.

Cambuslang scored two converted tries before half-time, with Biggar enjoying a 22-14 interval lead.

Biggar’s worst period in the game was at the start of the second half, although this was possibly due to several changes being made.

The Premier 2 opener next weekend against Premier 3 champions Gala will provide a completely different set of problems, and Biggar will need to work a lot harder if they are to record an opening-day win.

Prior to this friendly, Hartree Mill was buzzing with activity due to the club’s open day.

Participants were able to try rugby, cricket and golf, while there were several other activities.

A couple of new recruits tried out on the day, but there is plenty more room for players of all ages and abilities, and anyone interested – from ages 5-50 – should go along to Hartree Mill on Sundays from 11am-12.30pm (mini-midi), Tuesdays and Thursdays (senior players/colts), or Wednesdays (girls/midi).

Saturday’s Scottish Hydro Electric Premier 2 opener against Gala at Hartree Mill has a 3pm kick-off.
