HE may just be eight years old – but Ewan McGuinness is already shaping up to be another Tiger Woods.
Despite his tender age, Ewan is showing exceptional talent and is winning most junior competitions at Kames Country Club, near Carstairs.
He is already junior club champion in the under-12 age group and, unusually for someone so young, plays off a handicap of 14.
Club pro John Kelly has been coaching Ewan for two years, and is delighted that the youngster is now through to the British final at St Andrews of the HSBC Weewonders competition.
Ewan won the local qualifier at Kames, beating approximately 40 young players in the process; and then went to Royal Troon for the Scottish regional final where he played against finalists from Scotland, and beat them all!
He is now scheduled to play at St Andrews at the end of August for a chance to represent Great Britain and Ireland against the USA later on this year.
