Strathaven golfers step back in time to mark centenary

Strathaven Golf Club celebrated its 100th birthday on Friday with a number of nine-hole ‘shotgun’ Stableford competitions throughout the day.

Competitors used hickory-shafted clubs and were dressed in 1908 costumes.

The overall winners were Elspeth Thomson and Dick Walker with 22 and 20 Stableford points, respectively, for the nine holes.

They have since joked that they will sell their Callaway clubs and keep the hickory ones!
