We were a class act - Reid

Hamilton boss Billy Reid praised his young side for their convincing Scottish Cup win over Dumbarton on Monday and said he now feels they’re capable of competing against anybody in the First Division.

Having drawn 1-1 with Dunfermline and beat the Sons 3-1 in the space of four days, Accies are now idle until facing Airdrie United on Boxing Day, but Reid is delighted with his lot.

He said: “I thought we looked a class act right from kick-off. Results breed confidence and we played with a swagger.

“We played really well against Dunfermline and I could see signs of us being harder to beat. People are challenging for places and that brings the best out in them.”

Reid is trying to keep loan signings Gary Fisher and Stevie May until the end of the season, and hopes to negotiate with Motherwell for defender Jonathan Page.
