League is our priority, says Alex Neil

Alex Neil insists Hamilton’s focus is entirely on Saturday’s First Division clash against Dumbarton – because points are more important than a cup run.

Skipper Neil will lead his side out against the Sons at New Douglas Park this weekend, before Accies travel to Dumbarton on Scottish Cup duty on Monday.

Neil said: “The league takes priority because of where we are in the table, so we need to win that first and foremost.

“Then we’ll turn our attentions to the cup and hopefully give the fans something to shout about by going on a run.

“We haven’t been picking up as many points as we would have liked, so with each disappointment the next game becomes bigger. Saturday’s game is huge and we’ve got to win.

“Points are the most important thing. We’ve taken six out of nine in our last three games which is really good, but we’ve got to kick on from that.”
