Hamilton’s Kyle Waddell is one of seven athletes to benefit from the Winning Students national sports scholarship programme.
More than 150 students across Scotland will receive tailored support this academic year to bolster their bid for Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth success.
Those benefiting include Bothwell badminton star Kirsty Gilmour, footballers Sarah Crilly from Carluke and Emily Thomson of Motherwell, swimming siblings Corrie and Douglas Scott from Strathaven, and Hamilton triathlete Grant Sheldon.
The scholarship roster was announced at Stirling Sports Village, and curling star Kyle, an HND sports coaching with development student at City of Glasgow College, said: “Competing and training can be costly so the scholarship will help to ease the burden of expenses and make my life as a student much simpler.”
