Strathaven Striders AAC’s second cross-country race results.

STRATHAVEN Striders enjoyed favourable weather in the Avondale valley for their second cross country race.

Around 60 people joined in the pre-race warm-up, and while the three-mile race attracted most entries, seven brave souls took on the six-mile version.

First across the line for the six miles was Graeme Dickson in 48.13.

First senior male was David Meldrum in 52.11, with Lindsay Dick the first senior woman over the line in 53.57.

Andrew Clydesdale plodded round in 54.58, while Ewan Barn managed 57.02.

Jackie Noone made it home in 1.05.22, with president Lee Maclean clocking in at 1.15.36.

Matthew Osborne led the three-milers home in 28.25, with beginner Donnie Maclean clocking 29.37.

With a remarkable sprint up the hill from Craig Bridge, Craig Thomson came in third in 29.43.

Ian Devoy should be happy with his 29.59 finish ahead of Callum Noone, who soldiered on for a 30.17 time.

Several other runners made it round the course in times ranging from 30.17 to 47.11.
