SEVERAL members of Law and District Amateur Athletics Club returned to the National Indoor Sports Arena in Glasgow for the Bank of Scotland Age-Group Championships.
The Kelvin Hall has become something of a regular venue for the club’s runners, and they enjoyed some success on their recent visit a fortnight ago.
On this occasion, the club brought four medals back home with them.
The most outstanding performance was by Law’s youngest competitors, Alice McGrath, who claimed the National Indoor Under-15 800m title in 2.28.34 minutes.
Silver medals went to Stewart McLuckie in Under-15 1500m (4.20.89mins), and Kevin McGhee in the Under-17 Triple Jump (11.92metres).
Christopher Watson earned bronze in the Under-17 1500m in 4.20.89mins.
The 60m also proved to be competitive, with Lynn and Laura Livesey battling it out in the Under-20 women’s final.
On this occasion Lynn edged out Laura, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.
Both girls qualified from their 60m heats, Lynn taking second place in heat one in 8.29secs, and Laura fourth in heat two with 8.31secs.
Kirstie McLeod was a place behind her in 8.63secs.
Joe Devine finished sixth in the semi-finals after coming second in his Under-17 60m heat in 7.65secs.
Lewis Nicholson was fifth in heat one in 7.90secs before competing in the Under-17 Shot Putt, where he finished seventh with a throw of 11.25metres.
The Superteams also made their second appearance at the Kelvin Hall on February 13, with Law sending five Under-13 teams.
The boys’ ‘A’ side finished a respectable fourth with 259pts, while the ‘B’ team earned 170 points.
The girls’ ‘A’ team were seventh with 217pts, while their ‘B’ and ‘C’ sides earned 175 and 135pts, respectively.
Law’s Athlete of the Day was Connor Thomson, with personal best performances in all of his events.
