Accies Paixao twins strike twice to dump United.

PORTUGUESE twins Marco and Flavio Paixao made SPL history as they both scored in a 2-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice on Wednesday.

The deserved win, Accies’ first away to United since 1989, took Hamilton off the foot of the SPL, three points clear of basement battlers Falkirk.

Hamilton’s first-half dominance paid off in 22 minutes when Trent McClenahan picked out Flavio Paixao and his shot took a deflection on its way into the top corner.

Young Kyle Wilkie twice went close before Accies doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time when Flavio Paixao’s cross from the right found twin Marco and although his downward header was blocked, the striker reacted quickly to slam in the rebound.

United rallied in the second half but failed to sufficiently trouble Tomas Cerny.

Dusan Pernis recovered well to scramble the ball clear as Marco Paixao prepared to round him, and Accies were unlucky to be denied what looked like a clear penalty in the closing stages when Garry Kenneth appeared to barge McClenahan off the ball.
