BRIAN Easton aims to help Hamilton stay up in the SPL... and prove he’s ready for the big time.
The big left-back’s summer move to Premiership newcomers Burnley hasn’t gone as Easton hoped, and he rarely played under former gaffer Owen Coyle. Following Coyle’s move to Bolton Wanderers Brian Laws came in, and Easton decided it would be best if he left on loan in a bid to get games.
Easton is delighted to have teamed back up again with Billy Reid at Accies and said: “Leaving in the summer to go to Burnley was a great move for me and although I’m still looking to impress there it was a good move for me to come back here and play.
“It was something I had been thinking about over the last month or so. I had a good relationship with Owen Coyle even though I wasn’t really playing, and things didn’t really change when Brian Laws came in, so I had a word about going out on loan during the window.
“Brian has been encouraging, but it was one of those things where maybe if I had stuck it out for a couple more months he might have noticed me – or that might also have meant I didn’t play for another six months.
“I think it’s important that when you’re playing football you enjoy it and this is a place where I’ll do that.
“I know the boys, I’ve played under Billy Reid, and the SPL is the highest level in Scotland.”
Easton was disappointed to lose 1-0 against Celtic in his comeback game, but just hopes Accies can pick up points and rise from the foot of the SPL.
He said: “For us it’s about trying to get some more points on the board and trying to climb the table.
“We’re capable of doing that, we’ve got a good team and a good squad, and hopefully we can do well.”
